CAMEL BASICS

A golf game that can be played with 2-5 players.  The goal is to be the CAMEL.  The CAMEL is the player who ultimately collects the POT total from each player at the end of the round.

THE POT

Determine a DOLLAR VALUE for each BUNKER hit before the first tee shot.  Keep track of every BUNKER hit on holes 1-18.  When the round is complete, multiply the DOLLAR VALUE by number of BUNKERS hit to determine the POT.

UP & DOWN

On holes 1-15, the most recent player to get UP & DOWN for gross bogey or better from a BUNKER, is the current CAMEL.  If you arrive to hole 16 without anyone getting UP & DOWN for gross bogey or better from a BUNKER, then there is no current CAMEL  and no player has control of the POT.

BIRDIES WIN

Beginning on holes 16, 17 or 18, the most recent player to score a gross BIRDIE or better is the current CAMELTo optimize for shooting the best score vs aiming for bunkers down the stretch, only a player who scores a gross BIRDIE or better can claim or steal the role of CAMELFor the sake of clarity, a player who gets UP & DOWN for gross bogey or better from a BUNKER on holes 16, 17 or 18 cannot claim or steal the role of CAMEL.  If there are multiple BIRDIES on the same hole, the role of CAMEL is shared.  If the game ends with more than one CAMEL, the POT is split equally.

EAGLES

An EAGLE always trumps a BIRDIE.  If a player holes out for EAGLE on hole 18 the POT is doubled.

NO CAMEL

In the event there is no UP & DOWN for gross bogey or better from a BUNKER on holes 1-15 and there are no BIRDIES or better on holes 16, 17 or 18, no CAMEL has been established and the POT returns to zero.
